Does the opinion of some of NASCAR's legends change your mind on the new points changes?

I know the new changes to the points system aren't well liked by a lot of people. I can't say I was crazy about them myself. But some of the big names in NASCAR seem to like them.

I'm willing to give the new system a chance to see how it really plays out, but I admit, I'm not a fan of it either, and I'm not sure I agree with these drivers. I know the old drivers, like a lot of fans, have the idea things were somehow better and more "real" back in the old days, and drivers today just don't care about winning, which has never made a bit of sense to me. Although I do believe a different points system will influence how drivers race slightly if they don't have a realistic shot to win.

No matter what, making the entire championship race come down to one race is stupid, and there's absolutely nobody who could convince me otherwise.

No other person's opinion will ever have an effect on my opinion. This new system is straight up garbage. I don't see how this system emphasizes winning. And I agree with Kyle in that video. The racing isn't going to change. Matt Kenseth once said, you could give a million points for a win and it isn't going to change how we drive. We're already going as hard as we can.

Richard Petty said in a recent interview; (Not in his exact words) "No matter how the Champion is determined the same group of guys will be will be in the hunt at the end". I agree with that statement.
Personally from a motorsports fan perspective I think the Chase was Nascars worst idea ever and it keeps getting more pathetic year after year.
But as Petty explained Nascar drivers and teams have to do what they have to do to get in and no matter how you stack it the same 5-10 drivers who are there at the end every year will be there again this year. Thats a fact!

No, not at all, but I do agree with their statements, as far as the emphasis now being on winning; that is certainly a positive. Many drivers seem to be praising that, but not the actual Chase format.

considering that Dale Jr would have been last years champ under this new system with his zero wins, I don't see how there is an improved emphasis on winning....
