AVG 2011 pointing to system restore file?

My friend has winxp and avg 2011. I know, I know...he should upgrade, but he's cheap and technologically challenged. Anyway, he's getting popups stating that a system restore file is a threat, but the file is too large to move to the vault. To my knowledge, he's never used sys restore on this machine.

My first inclination is to delete the file in question, but has anyone encountered this before and what's really the problem?

Thanks...

Sometimes viruses or other malware gets backed up into system restore file. My solution is to go to my computer and the system restore page and turn OFF system restore so that it cleans itself up and then turn system restore back on and immediately create a restore point.

system restore is created on windows pc automatically for system security..
if he is getting that error then either the windows is corrupted or there could be a virus that has infected the windows...
you can delete all the restore points and then create a new restore point...

xp will be obsolete in 3-4 dayz...
if he is planning to use the same computer then ask him to get windows 7 on that computer...
contact me ill help install and setup the PC completely just for $149 WITH GENUINE WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL...

An upgrade is the best solution and it is very easy specially for technologically challenge people.

Just go to free.avg.com to get the latest version of the program from there.
