I may need to go there for about 6 months. What would be the average monthly rent, weekly grocery costs, electricity and other expenses could I expect in a major city, for, say, a one or two bedroomed furnished flat? ( Sorry, I asked this in wrong section before - stylus slipped)
Thanks folks

The UK is not a town. Prices vary, so you will have to give us a clue as to where in the UK you are likely to go. As an example, Belfast 1 - 2 bed flats from £400 per month. Likely to be in a not so nice area or far out of the centre. Cardiff - similar prices. Edinburgh- 1 bed from £450 per month London - Over £1000 per month in the centre for a studio flat, getting cheaper the further out you go. Groceries, from around £50 per week. Gas, Electric from around £100 per month Water - depends on whether the property is metered (around £60 for 6 months) or has a standing charge - you would need to check the local council website. Council Tax - around £150 per month, but each council sets its own rate for the property and if you live alone, there is a 25% discount. TV licence, £142 per year Then add onto that travel and other sundries.
Rents are high in London. One Bedroom furnished flat at least £1200 per month. Food depends on what you eat - average £50 per week for one person, but I eat mainly organic stuff. Electricity low cost in summer and depends whether you are using it for heat and cooking which are often gas in the U.K.
