Just found out my girlfriend has hsv1 herpes. any advice? Thanks?

Let me start off by saying that I planned on marrying this girl. I'm 21 and yes I know your automatically assuming i m thinking irrationally, but please note that I've lived down the street from her and for as long as I've known her so we spent any time were weren't at school working or with family together. When I had moved out at 19 even (closer to her, a few houses down) she pretty much lived with me and to this day we still pretty much live together so we know all the **** about each other you usually don't learn until you live with someone....On top of this ive had many different types of relationships and have learned what i want in a relationship. What I'm trying to say is that I'm not immature or talking out of my *** about being serious about this girl, its just herpes is kind of scary... I mean I don't want to catch this virus then have to be worrying about giving it to other people. I've been tested and I'm clean. But we are very intimate and if I choose to be with her I'm might as well just rub someone's cs on my open cut right? Because I'm going to get it.

It's easy to say if you love her just be with he.....it'll suck if I'm just worried about getting herpes

On the other hand.. It's also easy to say leave her if your worried... Because I know she's what I want in a partner.

Idk I know I'm contradicting myself and I'm getting frustrated and feeling lost so I'll just end this question here.

If she has HSV1 only on her mouth then it's nothing major to worry about. Just avoid kissing her and letting her give you oral sex while she has a cold sore. If its on her genitals then don't give her oral sex or have intercourse if / when she gets a break out. Oral herpes on the mouth rarely comes from having oral sex or intercourse. It's more likely to be passed by being innocently kissed by some one that has cold sores. 
Herpes isn't always passed on but there is always a small chance of getting it. It's not that scary, all it does is cause sores or blisters on the mouth or genitals.
Antiviral medication can help treat break outs, if taken regularly it can help reduce her chances of passing the virus in between break outs.
Just spending time together isn't going to give you herpes. When it comes to intimate things like kissing on the mouth, having oral sex, then you could potentially get it. But the chances of getting it are higher around the time she has a break out.
You should make this decision. At least she was honest with you, this isn't some thing I would tell some one on the first date. If it's too much risk for you then at least appreciate her being honest. You can still be just friends with her if you want to.

I guess what worries me the most about this women is she didn't care enough about her own health and had unprotected sex. To me that says she doesn't respect herself. So how do you expect her to respect you. It's your life.. you can be with whom ever you want.. Just use a condom and don't give her oral sex.
