How best to install Ubuntu 14.04 LTS only to replace WIN 7 and Ubuntu 14.04 beta 2 dual boot ?

Question

Linux newbie here, but pretty technical.

My C: HDD has Win 7 and data files (all backed up several ways)
My D: HDD has Xubuntu 14.04 beta 2 installed and also logical partitions E: and F: used for data backup.

What is the best way to install or upgrade to the newly released Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and fully remove WIN 7 Home 64 bit Operating System  from C: HDD ?  My D; HDD is newer and larger and the Linux OS could stay there, right? It doesn't have to be on the C; HDD when the only OS ?

Also, using WIN 7 to download the newest LTS and burning a DVD work OK? Or should I do that running my Ubuntu OS?  Or wait and buy a DVD or flash drive with the new 14.04 LTS on it?

Kali Linux user here, the way write that annoyed me......... But I like it when people decide to try Linux soo.....
1. Downlaod the ISO, Burn it to a DVD (make sure its set to be bootable)
2.
A. Repartition C Drive, when prompted in the Ubuntu install....
B. A more secure way to do this is to "nuke it" with Kali Linux and then install Ubuntu with the DVD
3. What OS is used to burn DL, and Burn the OS does not matter one bit...
Side Note: Make sure you have GRUB2, and also check out Linux Mint(  as it is also very newbie friendly)
