Would my front tooth Root Canal be painful ?

Question

One of my front tooth got chipped off around 6 years back. I did go to the dentist the same day , and he told me to have the root canal done since he spotted an abscess . But I denied to do it . In the past 6 years , I've had several gum boils , but since the last 2 years I haven't seen any. Tooth ache's are rare . I do have a tingling effect behind the chipped off tooth spreading the upper jaw. And also , whenever I have a tooth ache , I experience the pain in the adjacent tooth too , the pain is almost identical for both, don't know why . I would like to have the root canal done , and so my questions are :
Would it be painful or more painful actually since its been 6 years which I think would be a rare case.
Would there be any other complications compared to normal root canal since its a front tooth ?
I am really anxious to know about it , and also I am a person who is really scared of such surgeries . I hope they numb me really hard !

Wow, I have never heard anyone mention what is said above and have never seen any evidence of problems with a properly treated root canal tooth.

The above poster must not be in the dental field because they don't understand the basics of dental anatomy. I have seen root canals last for 50 years in a person's mouth with no issues. I would have a root canal done on myself in a second if I needed one. No hesitation.

Your "gum boils" are a result of a long-standing abscess. The tooth should be treated. Root canals on front teeth are very straightforward for the most part because front teeth have only one nerve canal (most of the time). Getting injected for local anesthesia hurts slightly more in the front then in other places, but once you are numb you will feel nothing else.

You should probably see an endodontist (a root canal specialist) because they do a better job, for the most part.
