Why does Skype hate me?

I had a .wmv file sent to me over Skype the other day and it was taking too long to download so I cancelled it to try downloading it again. However when I tried to download it again, it wouldn't do anything. So I had the person resend the file and now it just says "waiting." I don't want to cancel the download because then I would be faced with the same problem as before. Is there a way to overcome this situation so that I may download the file?

Skype probably isn't a great way to send a file more than a couple of megabytes. It'll be better if the other person uploaded it to the cloud somewhere, then sent you the link to download.
