OK I'm having problems with my truck I put it in any gear and it won't move R D 1 2 OK then I put it into Park and it made this weird noise so I put it into neutral and put it in 4x4 and then took it off 4x4 and the gears worked it moves now but it makes a weird noise when driving what could it be please help

check the fluid and go straight to the transmission shop. cross your fingers. anything else you do that puts miles on a set of frictions leads to a complete overhaul. if its howling, that's areation and causes quick failure. its a sign there is trouble within. getting involved in it will cost more and confuse the issue for the trans shop. and you will make a big mess, buy alot of expensive over priced fluid that will just have to be replaced again.
If your "weird noise" is from the transfercase, you have similar future findings. They have a centriifugal pump and planetary gearsets as well. no user serviceable parts. check the fluid level and go straight to the trans shop. get some help from educated ears.

there are more updates for this area of the powertrain than any other. It may be worth consulting the dealer service department. This is one of the few they try to repair instead of ordering one ready in a crate. The price of all the little gears and plates and hard parts can add up quick.
