Best plants for 30 gallon fully planted?

I've been trying to do a planted tank, and I am not having success. My tank is just taking a real beating I have a different question already up for that. I am considering just redoing the plants or adding more. Please suggest the plants and how many of each.
All opinions wanted!!

@Punkin eater, I have a light fixture with 2 bulbs. one is a Coralife 10,000k Daylight T8 17 Watt and the other is a Coralife Colormax T8 17 Watt. The guy at my lfs said the light is probably not the problem.

the pics were helpful, normally people either don't give enough info and they don't post proper info.

but the pic I found in your photobucket account, makes the question easy to answer.
(are the other pics your tank as well, if not then post pic of your lighting system or it's specs)

1. you don't have enough light.
2. planted tanks require light to thrive. A standard fluorescent fixture with one bulb even two might not be enough intensity.
3. double the light and you'll have the growth you want

note: once the light is increased, fertilization and co2 can be increased to get more growth.

oh, and no, this is what you want your tank to look like. (this is the worlds best live planted tank guy)
