ladies poker tourney legal?
Is it legal in the state of Ohio to have a ladies only poker tournament? I know in other states courts have ruled it to be illegal but casinos still put up ladies only poker tournaments in hopes of men being respectful to the ladies and not entering the tournament but if a man wants to enter the casino has to let them. And I would like to know what the law on that in Ohio is. If anyone knows please answer...Please no smart *** answers...just want to know what the law is. Like I know they wouldn't be allowed to have a white people only tournament.
I am talking about for casinos. Is it legal for a casino to run a ladies only tournament!
Ranger...it is against federal law for a business to discriminate against someone based on gender. So not sure if making the game women only would fall under that law. A federal court in New Jersey along with a couple other courts in other states ruled that a casino can not ban a man from entering a ladies only tournament. However, that does not mean they can not advertise it as ladies only in hopes that women will just register and men will be respectful and let the ladies play.
I emailed the Ohio Gaming commission about it. Casinos are still new in Ohio. These casinos don't know how to run tournaments. If they want to have a ladies tournament then fine but have others for everyone to play. I don't mean to be a jerk about it, but it's not fair. No reason they can't have 2 or 3 tournaments a day so everyone gets a chance to play. They also seem to discriminate against people who work during normal hours with their games and they have been getting a lot of complaints.
