ZX6R is an inline 4, makes it's peak power up in higher RPM's. More suited to racing, as it's designed to be a super-sports bike. The Ninja 650 is a twin cylinder, so it has power all the way through, all though it's not as powerful as the ZX6R once the ZX6R is wound up a little. However, despite that, the Ninja 650 would be the better daily commuter bike..a more suitable all-rounder machine. More torque, suitable for city riding. The ZXR is more thrills, while the Ninja 650 is a little more toned down and subtle. Both good bikes, just depends on what you want to use it for.

They are different bikes for different purposes. They are about the same size and weight but there are still enormous differences, just like a driver and a putter are about the same size and weight but for different purposes.

The design of a motorcycle (or ANYTHING) is a compromise between many different considerations. For a motorcycle it's speed, handling, comfort, safety, maintainability, reliability, economy, etc.etc. But different models put more emphasis on different considerations. A sportbike like the ZX6 tends to sacrifice everything for speed and handling. IOW it's not especially comfortable or easy to ride or reliable. The Ninja is a 'general purpose' motorcycle that has a wider range of considerations, IOW it makes more compromises. Softer suspension at the cost of the very best handling. A more comfortable seat, less radical riding position, etc.

Hot all-out sportbikes are extremely popular around the world, so they represent a big 'market segment'. And all the Japanese mfgrs make one, and they compete strongly by upgrading their entry every year or two. They're all water-cooled fours because this design is best for the purpose. These bikes are really more at home on the track than the street. And I think most people who buy them buy them for the style. They use them just as street bikes. Just as most 4WD SUVs never go off road, people just want the look.

The 650r is much simpler, easier to ride, more comfortable, better for a wider range of uses. Certainly easier (and SAFER) to learn on. Still plenty sporty though!

About 45 HP and 60 mph.

The 600 is much more powerful, essentially a race bike with lights built for the race track, and the 650 is more of a standard bike built for street riding, lower power, less rush at the top end, more torque at the bottom end.

ZX-6R has harder suspension, handle bars(clip ons) are lower therefor you are leaning more compared to a sport Ninja 650. Power is high in the RPMs so you really need to rev it past 9k to accelerate, compared so say 5k on a normal sport bike. Insurance is higher. and also the SS bikes have higher revving engines.

If your trying to ask which bike is better as a first bike, I say its up to how mature you are. You can still kill yourself on a 250cc, which everybody recommends as a first. A 250 will be easier to manage, but like i said if you can control yourself with 120hp on your wrist you should have no issues with a ZX6R. Tired of people saying they're bad beginner bikes. Sure its gonna cost an arm and a leg to repair if crashed, but a SS bike in the hands of the right person, beginner or pro, is just as likely to crash as 250cc.
