Will Hamas lose control in Gaza?

The Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, has lashed out at Hamas, saying they are running a “shadow government” in Gaza and Fatah will “not accept the situation.” Hamas has hit back saying the allegations are “baseless.”
“They have 27 directors-general of ministries and they are running the Gaza Strip,” said the Palestinian President. “The national consensus government can’t do anything on the ground.” Abbas made the statement in Cairo, as he prepares to meet with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

"We will not accept the situation with Hamas continuing as it is at the moment," Abbas said on Saturday evening, in remarks published by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Abbas also accused Hamas of carrying out mass executions of Palestinian youths living in the Gaza strip, while Israel was bombing the area:
“More than 120 youths were killed [by Hamas] because they did not abide by the house arrest imposed on them,” Abbas said. “This is in addition to the extra-judicial execution of 30-40 people during the Israeli assault.”

Abbas also claimed that Hamas had lost “only” 50 of its men during the war, while 861 men belonging to his Fatah faction were killed. He did not say how the Fatah men were killed and by whom.

Hamas probably lost 100-200 men (most of them in ground combat) and Fatah much less. Israel had a very difficult time locating the rocket launcher operators because they were firing from underground and on timers (the Hamas guys were long gone). This tactic was highly successful and it's why Israel failed to dent rocket fire, let alone stop it completely.

Abbas' statements against Hamas are a sign of desperation. The only way Hamas can be ousted from power is if the people turn against them, and that will only happen if they feel the West Bank is progressing without them. If those people are willing to endure two months of heavy bombing for more freedom, they surely will oust Hamas for total freedom. But they have to see it with their own eyes first. Israel has exploited Palestinian non-violence in the West Bank to expand settlements, so I don't blame Gazans for not trusting Israel.

Unfortunately, losing control doesn't seem to be the future that Hamas has in store for them. It would be great for Gaza if someone more competent and/or interested in actual success took over; however, as it stands, they're still there.

Abbas isn't as credible a source as he think he is. He's totally right about the executions and Hamas' irresponsible handling of their power; however, I think they lost more than 50 men. That's crazy, but so is the idea that Abbas has the power to oust them (which, clearly, he doesn't).

Eventually they will, but you must understand that the Palsetinians will keep voting for Hamas as long as Hamas holds a gun to their heads.

abbas is a zionist. support for Hamas (the only people who have the ability/balls to stand up for palestine) has only gone up
