This person is in a poor family and used to be fat. She was never taken seriously in middle school based on what I heard and now really cares about being popular in high school. I didn't got to middle school with her but she is the hottest girl in the school.

Because most of them grow up being told that everything belongs to them. They don't have to work hard for anything they have, so they fail when they're required to put in more effort than usual. Of course, not all popular people are like this, and it's unfair to make assumptions that they are, but the majority of popular kids are wealthy and attractive- and we live in a society that praises the wealthy and attractive.
