I am looking for a good camera to take action shots of my son at his football games. What should I look for when shopping for a camera?
I want to be able to take multiple shots as he is in action. What should I look for when looking for a camera that can do this? I also would like to take close ups, so I want a good zoom...any advice is appreciated!

You will need a DSLR camera... Which one ? There are two main features you need to consider when looking for the best SLR for action: a fast multi-point autofocus and a fast continuous speed. I would recommend a camera that when put into Continuous consecutive mood can take up to 5 photos per single second. The last important camera feature to consider if you're an action enthusiast is how well the camera handles high ISO noise. Here's a quick primer when it comes to a camera's ISO setting: The ISO setting affects how quickly the camera's sensor absorbs light A high ISO number means the sensor is absorbing light faster The faster light is absorbed by the sensor, the faster the shutter speed you can use The main reason that ISO is important for action photography is because it is your primary tool to ensure that you're action photos don't turn out blurry. In order to freeze a fast-moving subject you MUST use a fast shutter speed.... With all these factors, I will be going ahead and recommending a few options for you and you select based on your budget. For close up shots, you will also needs a good zoom lens. 1. Sony Alpha SLT-A65VL DSLR 24.3MP SLR Camera See here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DS46BVW/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00DS46BVW&linkCode=as2&tag=cheonlsto-20&linkId=C3UUEXWVUWPLY6PD ''If you "feel the need for speed" then the SLT-A65 might just be the right camera for you. Its 15-point autofocus system is paired with a translucent mirror which allows for continuous autofocus in live view and movie modes. In addition, the top speed of 10 photos per second and ISO up to 16000 will let you freeze subject motion in all kinds of available light. The flexible LCD screen can be twisted in all directions and the new high-resolution OLED viewfinder can be used when the sun is too bright to see the LCD''
2. Sony ALPHA SLT-A77 best option: More expensive though See here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005IHAICK/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005IHAICK&linkCode=as2&tag=cheonlsto-20&linkId=RLKMXJQVKTRY26JS You will also need the Sony SAL18250 Alpha DT 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens See here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000VUFDPG/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B000VUFDPG&linkCode=as2&tag=cheonlsto-20&linkId=7K72YYFWEOFEXGF3
