Is atheism is for a select few only?

Anonymous2014-09-27T12:13:15Z

Not really.
Atheism is for people that are willing to search for truth, rather than accepting the dogma of 2000-year old stories as fact.
Atheism is for people that are not willing to knuckle under to social pressure, that are intelligent enough to learn the truth and intelligent enough to realize that others are entitled to believe whatever they like.

So, on second thought, yes its for a select few only. Based on the questions and answers I see on Yahoo (not just in R&S), intelligence is in short supply these days. Kids are not educated, are not interested in learning anything, and have no ambition to do anything for themselves - perfect fodder for religious brainwashing.

The "select few" to whom I was referring in my question are
those with the requisite brains and guts to see what a total delusion religion is.
I am always refreshed, when I see how many regular users in this section are champions of atheism.

Just the opposite.
Only some individuals
of only one species of nearly hairless ape,
on only one tiny, damp planet
among trillions of planets,
are theist.

The entire rest of the universe is atheist.

This video explains this idea very clearly.

Well, in the sense that if you believe in God, you can't be an atheist, yes. All that being an atheist requires is that you don't believe in ANY gods or deities. Nothing more.

Not at all! ALL humans are atheists regarding 99.999% of the various gods men have created throughout History!

(I'm confident that YOU reject the notion that Zeus is a "real god"....don't you?)

An atheist, in today's world, is someone who simply rejects one more "god" than you do!
