A short while ago BT suggested I change to bt.com so I did. Then when I tried answering questions on YA I couldn't because I was not logged into Yahoo. I had to open a yahoo account, and in so doing I had a new YA account, and my original account has vanished. How do I recover it?

Unfortunately you can no longer access that account.If I understand you correctly.The same thing happened to me.Yahoo answers no longer recognise the BT email address linked to your old account.BT and yahoo parted company.(BT claiming and yes only a claim that many yahoo email accounts were being hacked)
If you email yahoo "y_answrs_team@yahoo.com" (missing e in answers)Explain and give both old and new account email addresses They may be able to transfer your points and level to the new one.You may need to persist.Like I did.All your old answers and questions will be inaccessable.
Overall it hasn't been well thought through. Many BT customers left in limbo by both parties.All the best.
