I have had the game GTA 4 for a year I think but I never really do missions because I prefer just to go around doing what I want, but I want to go past the road blocks and get to new islands but when I pass them I get a 5 star wanted level. It is impossible to get the cops off of you. Do I need to do more missions? Or am I missing something?

I believe it is similar to GTA San Andreas, as you progress through the story missions you will unlock new areas

You gotta unlock them by completing more missions Or you can arm yourself and give it a fight to the cops, you wont shake them off but its pretty fun to battle agains the cops lol

Unlock it in story mode second island unlocked by a drug deal in ghetto island and 3rd is a bank heist
