I have rather bushy-like hair so generally speaking it cannot be brushed unless I just came out of the bath/shower and used shampoo, after that I can comb it a way I like it however it'll return to its messy look that it normally is soon after. So what exactly can I do to keep my hair from becoming messy after combing it?

you should also put some conditioner in your hair after you wash it...shampoo dries your hair because the moisture and oils form your hair decrease, so always put conditioner in your hair after shampooing. Once you dry your hair put some leave in conditioner o make your hair easier to brush, as for keeping your hair in place you should look up hair gel and pomades for males. There are lot of styling products for males on the market for cheap prices.
