How do people with no experience get first jobs?

I started on an apprenticeship so not talking from experience but if you apply for retail jobs like supermarkets or clothes stores then you'll find the application takes ages because they know so many want to work in retail because it's constantly growing. I say try here because although it takes the piss it's good for you. They have pages of tests on how you would handle a situation, sometimes numeracy etc. The more of this you pass the less your work experience counts :) And I've noticed a lot of retailers in the clothes industry have young ones working. I say either apply here where your answers are more important than experience orrrrr apply to be like a kitchen porter or something. You don't need experience for these jobs and when I was one I loved it, you just get on with it :) So yeh either aim for the simplest jobs or on-line applications :)

By showing employers their potential, willingness to learn, reliability and their transferable skills.

We all start with no experience, and yet the majority of us are employed.

Don't see lack of experience as a barrier.
