Beheading was a common form of execution for Roman citizens. Crucifixion was the most common method used for slaves and political enemies because it was a method of maximum pain. Another cruel method was to use them for entertainment in the colosseum. Sometimes they were thrown to the lions. Roman citizens could not be crucified. Paul could not be crucified because he was a Roman citizen.

I know that crucifixion and stoning were used as methods of execution during this time but are there any others? i am curious about this after a friend asked me a question about it the other day.
