The Thin Red Line.
It might be a war movie, and it's the only one on my list of favorite movies, but that's because it's more than that. It's a piece of poetry (as most Terrence Malick films are), it's art, and rather than being about warfare and violence, it poses the question "What is war?" and it does so without being comfortable about it. It's emotionally resonant and very heavy, filled with pain and tears and, as said above, poetry. Plus, it's the best soundtrack Hans Zimmer ever put together.
Cheers!

I have many favorite movies but one of them has to be Annie Hall because it's not only a hilarious inventive comedy but a really insightful look at love and relationships. I know about all of the allegations against Woody Allen but in separating the art from the artist I still love many of his films, especially Annie Hall.
Oxford Man
Monty Python and the Holy Grail. It's funny
