Touch ID won't work for waterlogged phone?!?

I dropped my phone in water and you can see the water inside of it. The phone and the home button works, but not my Touch ID (fingerprint). When I go to settings all my fingerprints have been deleted and when I try to add one it says "failed". Does anyone know why and does anyone know if its ever going to work? Btw I'm drying it with rice right now
