Has anyone ever heard of injections of plasma into arthritic joints?

My doctor has already given me steroid shots which basically helped for a week. Doctor didn't believe that they would help much, but I wanted to start at step one. Now, step 2 is to inject my plasma into each hip. Apparently, this is an off-label use, and not covered by insurance. Just wondered if anyone has tried this treatment?

I have arthritis in a few joints but have only ever had steroid shots (which didn't help for very long) but a friend has been suffering for more years and to the point where she eventually had first knee then hip replacement surgery. I sent your question to her and she sent me the following link.

Note the wealth of links re this procedure following the short article. This sounds like a promising treatment.

By the way, my friend didn't seem to suffer much following her joint replacement surgeries. She had so much pain that anything was better than waiting. I'm chicken/scared-to-death/terrified of surgery so I've stopped just about all of my physical activity - and gained weight:-)
