Christians: Why do Atheists mistake Religion with God and get angry when we pay them no attention for not knowing the difference?

God and Religion are completely separate entities. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with God as it is a man made institution.

Some people need the crutch of religion to help them through life. Some people are deluded enough to think they are somehow special or set apart and above others because they belong to a particular religion. I know the religion I was raised in has that belief and I know many others do as well.

Personally I see religion as a way to control other people. Maybe there was a time and place for religion, such as in the dark ages when religious leaders provided some balance to rulers. But in today's age, when we have democracies, I don't really see the purpose for religion.

Please understand the difference Atheists.

The word 'religion' simply means living by rules
Therefore, there are both theistic religions (eg Islam) and
non-theistic religions (EG Buddhism, materialism)

You so funny.

Christians are the ones who make this mistake, not atheists. You won't find many Christians who will agree with you, since they are the ones who believe their god commands us to participate in their religion of choice at the threat of eternal damnation.

Please understand who exactly equates god with religion. It's religious people, not atheists. We atheists know that both gods and religions are man-made crutches and we don't need either.
