The Bible has been given to the human family so as to put them on the right course. Most households have a Bible, but how many Bibles are being studied so as to learn what God expects of them? We have been given free will, but if we use that to do wrong, we can expect to be punished. Those who read and study and come to "accurate knowledge of truth," should and will be rewarded with what the Scriptures say is "everlasting life". John 17:3
"This means everlasting life, their coming to know you, the only true God and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ." How only can anyone "come to know the only true God and his Son"? Is it not by reading and meditating on God's Word the Bible? There is actually no reason for anyone to go in the wrong direction except for the fact that they don't care of just don't want the truth about God and what he expects of those who worship him. Some religions use icons in worship. Does God accept their worship? John 4:23 and 24
What will happen to those who would rather believe the lie than search for the truth?
2 Thess. 2:3, 7,9,10-12 (11 and 12) "That is why God lets a deluding influence mislead them so that they may come to believe the lie, in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness."
The Scriptures are very plain, yet, unbelievers want to believe false teachings taught to them from the pulpits of false religious leaders and men who claim to know the Bible.

Scripture concurs

Jhn 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment.

Jde 1:15 To execute judgment on the people of the world, He will convict every person of all the ungodly things they have done and for all the insults that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

If you know that you are in the wrong direction and you do nothing... Of course...

"So, then, each of us will render an account for himself to God" (Romans 14:12. Bible).

Not really.

If we have Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He will have mercy on us and guide us in the right direction if we let Him.

If we are going in the wrong direction without Jesus, our sins will cause us to fall on our faces. Some people call on God for help after they fall. Some people die in their sins.
