What do you think about NJ not using redlight cameras...but leaving them up?

There have been a few times I had been worried about running a red light with a camera and receiving a ticket in the mail, but it never happened. Now, NJ says they will not be using them to issue tickets anymore, but are going to leave them in place.

Were they ever about giving tickets? Or were they always just about an invasion of privacy? Leave them up for 10 years, stop issuing tickets, then everyone will be so used to seeing them, they won't care that they're still there spying on them?

If I were to rip one down, would they spend tax payer money to put them back up...if they're not using them?

They were about saving lives. If you're running red lights, it's only a matter of time before you're involved in an accident. I don't know why they're not using them anymore- they're probably leaving them in place in case they decide to use them later.
