Can you please help me and my mom feel better about the yourkie (dog) that we had to have put down today?

My mom brought her Yourkie named coco to the vet for a scheduled appointment to have some of her teeth taken out. Coco is approxamitly 13 or 14 years old (in human years.) About an hour later the vet called the house to tell my mom that they would have to send her home without doing the procedure because she coco was stressed out, or something like that. Then they called again saying she really wasn t doing good (like blue membranes, really gasping for air) and they had her hooked up to oxygen machine. My mom saw how she was suffering and decided to put her down. They were telling us that we could bring her to emergency animal hospital but that does not guarantee anything. What are your opinions on the matter

I don't know how I feel about this. I think I would have made an effort to help her before I gave up on her. But I wasn't there. I may have felt different if I had seen the poor little dog suffering and struggling to breathe. I would never have tried to put a dog that old through tooth extraction. 20/20 hindsight, huh? I'm so sorry for your loss.

I think your Mom made the right decision to end this dog's suffering. At that age, everyday is a bonus, and they can be very fragile. All the emergency center could do is to try to stabilize her and really, at this age, the best thing to do is to sadly euthanize her. IMO, it is selfish and wrong to do all these medical things to save a dog that is elderly, They The dogs, don't understand, they're suffering enough already and it's just a lot of money that could get another puppy.

It sounds like she's doing what's best for the dog... I'm very sorry but it's not fair to take her to the emergency clinic and make her suffer longer than she needs to. Just find peace in knowing that you didn't let the dog be in pain longer than it needed to be.

13 or 14 in human years? Does that mean the dog was 2 years old?

Sad you hear about this, hope you all are okay.
