Is fear of God just "a scary dream or thought", or more to it than that?

Fear of God in most context in the Bible means reverence, respect of God. Of cause Scripture also say in Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. In this context it is: 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Psalms 111
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

If is by no means supposed to be a scary dream if those who are not Christians knowledgeable of the word lf God then they will not know the truth of the fear of the Lord. We are to respect our parents which is like this for the Lord God. To fear God is the beginning of wisdom. Because we find out that God wants us to respect Him and not mistreat Him or take His name in vain for swearing purposes. Mankind has a tendency to take sacred things and use them in a disrespectful way just because the devil and our flesh is lazy, don't want to take the time to learn about God, and rebellious as the devil was wanting to sit on God's throne in heaven and receive all the honor and glory and worship that is God's only.
Even in the military their has to be respect shown for your superior officers, parents want to have your respect as well.
People who refuse to respect others will soon or later harm or offend them because they are care less.
To respect someone is to love them. This is the main reason we are to respect who God is and that He loved us so much He made us in His image.
Parents have kids that look like them and having kids is a loving thing between a man and a woman being married in the eyes of God. All deal with respecting God and what He calls Holy.

If you have a fear of death or hell, that always or most always is very real and placed there by the Holy Spirit.

There are times, like when a person is impacted by the death of someone they know, or experience a near death experience yourself that the fear is most present. Horrible counseling or false teachers may say to the person with the fear various things, "think about something pleasant", or "you're a good enough person".... or pray to God and say, "such and such" asking for forgiveness... and I've read a false teaching that says, "congratulations, now you're a Christian and going to heaven, even though you may not feel it now".

Romans 10:9 says "that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved"

Some may have said, "Jesus is Lord" verbally, but, for example, have they seen someone be raised from the dead or have raise from the dead belief? Rather, often that person who has the fear hears something that is like novacane; puts their fear and dealing with their eternal issues on a shelf.

Those who have an "endure to the end" faith seek God like a deer panting for water to know God The Father through God The Son, Jesus as God truly is, knowing him more and more to a saving faith. Romans 10:9 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

No, the "fear of God" is a healthy respect that comes from learning about God and knowing his attributes and qualities. It is a form of respect.

There is no fear in love because perfect love drives out fear - and since God is love, there is therefore no need to be afraid.

Fear actually means the respect of God and yes it is much more than a thought it concerns eternal life
