I need a whole house gas generator installed in my back yard.?

Need the quietest generator, as it will be only 5 feet from bedroom.
Do you own a Generac or Kohler? How is the noise, performance, reliability (repairs needed) of the two?
Do I really need to purchase the on-cue computer monitoring with the system...will it really help the contractor service my generator in the future? Or is it not worth the extra money?
Opinions on above, please.

The generator will be located 5 ft. from the back of the house, and the back of the house has no windows. It is legal here, in fact, the only place I can put a generator without having contractor run electrical/plumbing lines far away from house under ground, which is too much money for me, according to the companies I have talked with so far.

Since quietness is the most important factor, I will investigate Honda, too. I didn't know Honda made generators.

The generator will be in the Back of the house where there are no windows. Window for bedroom is on side of house, so no problem present about generator fumes.

If you have only had a Generac, and not owned, installed or serviced a Kohler, how can you compare them?

For noise levels Honda is also something to consider they are also very reliable but more expensive.

I have installed both, they are both about the same, you can find plus or minuses for either, the monitoring systems can help with identifying issues,, I wouldn't put it that close to your bedroom, not sure where you are but that might not even be legal do to the exhaust location to a window.

Generac is the leading manufacture of whole house generators and have been for years. They are reliable and will serve you well.
