The GTX 745 is basically a stripped down version of the GTX 750 (non tie). It has fewer shader cores and uses GDDR3 VRAM. It's a pretty big improvement over a Radeon 6450. But it's not a high end card by any means. It's a AMD equivalent would be a Radeon 7750 or R7 250

Thanks, Colby. I was looking to get a decent gaming computer, but didn't want to spend a ton of cash. I found an Alienware rig that has the GTX 745 for about a thousand bucks. I just wanted to make sure that it was a decent upgrade to the unit I'm using now. I appreciate the info.

Yes but you can't buy GTX 745s (unless it is a prebuilt). A GTX 750 would be a big upgrade.
