Can an employer move an employee to a position of less pay for no reason?

My husband is exceptionally good at his job. Because he can do basically 2 jobs they want to pay him the lesser jobs rate and hire someone else in his original position. They say that "the line would fall apart" without him in the lesser position.

wow......pretty ballsy of the employer.

the question comes down to, does he want to continue to work there or not?

I'd go seek another job while I still had one...never ever quit without securing another position and never take a position sooner than 2 weeks, it's an industry standard....so don't just walk out if you get a firm offer.

best wishes

Sounds like he's in an excellent negotiating position. He can say that he might look for another job if they can't pay him what he's worth.

Yes, or fire him.
