Which name do you prefer?

Evie or Rosie?

I am aware they are both 'nickname' names, but I am quite partial to these sort of names for girls... Partner likes both, Grandma likes them too.

I am leaning more towards Rosie atm, because her name would be Rosie Catherine and Catherine is my Grandma's middle name (+her grandmother's name!), while Rosemary is my partner's Grandmother's name, so it would honour both.
Also, my eldest brother died befor I was born and his name was Ross, so Rose/Rosie also has similar lettering.

But any comments on Evie Catherine and Rosie Catherine?

PS - We don't actully know the gender yet, we are trying to get names we like for both beforehand.

Both are sweet, but I prefer Evie over Rosie. I adore Rose, and many other "rose" names, but I haven't quite fallen in love with Rosie yet, even just as a nickname. As of now, I prefer the sound of Evie. If Rosie has a special meaning though, that may be more of a reason to use it over Evie.

Do your child a favor and don't give them just a nickname for their first name. Eve, Eva, Evelyn or Rose, Rosa, Rosalie, etc. Call them Evie or Rosie, but don't make they go through life with a baby name. They will be adults for 60 years.

I don't like Evie at all. A lot of people don't even know how to pronounce that. Rosie is... ok. It would be a million times better if it was just Rose. Like other people said, do not give your child a nickname as their official name. Rosalie, Rosalyn, anything like that sounds better. I don't like Rosie, but I like Rose as a NICKNAME.
