I need to wear tampons but I can't keep it in long enough what should I do?

Ok so I'm 13, I got my period on 7th grade at the end of the year so this is my 5th cycle, and I have worn a tampon once to go swimming and once at a dress rehearsal at dance, my mom doesn't know I'm to scared to tell her or ask if I even can wear them, anyways now when ever I try to wear a tampon for dance I put it in and right before I leave I change to a pad because I don't like taking them out because i don't want it to expand because I feel it will hurt to come out... And I do acro competition so I kind of need to wear tampons... ANYWAYS... How should I ask my mom to buy me tampons(it's already hard enough to ask just for pads), and how can I get over my weird fear to keep a tampon in longer then 5 minutes and actually use them to dance and swim and all that???

The best thing is to get over your fear and embarrassment about talking about protection with her.  You have to convince yourself that your mom has periods too as well as all women in the world, so how can it not be normal to be able to talk about it.  The more you make yourself do it, the more normal it will become.  And then tell her that you bought some tampons to try and that you like them and would prefer to use them than pads or with a pad, if your periods are heavy.  Honestly, moms understand this stuff.  They have been there and done it.  They were 13 and having their own first period once upon a time.   As far as your fear of pulling them out is concerned, it only hurts if you pull it out dry.  It is the dryness that makes it hurt a little.  If you leave it in longer it will hurt less to pull it out.

what I usually do is wait until I'm alone with my mom and she's leaving the room and just go "mom would you mind getting me some more tampons/pads" and she just goes "k fine" you could wait until she's at the shop sometime and just text her saying you need some and about leaving the tampon in just remember millions of girls are wearing them at the same time as you so you don't hear them complaining about it hurting when they pull it out and they're created to not to hurt :) just make sure your absorbency isn't to high and make sure you leave the tampon in long enough
