New Landlords (brother) disgusting habit - should I speak up or not ?
I am renting a room from a lady, and in the house lives her brother and his wife too, whom I share the bathroom and kitchen with. They are not bad people, neither are they over friendly though, Every morning at 4:50 AM he goes to showers and clears his throat with the most vile loud disgusting manner imaginable, then I hear him spit ( on the shower floor i presume :( ).His wife also then turns the radio on at 5:00 o clock. I am not against early birds, but they wake up more than an hour before sunrise. As someone PAYING for rent, would it be rude / a bad idea to confront them and ask them to please respect my sleeping habits too(I only wake up an hour and 15 minutes later anyway?I'm scared I get chased out or make things awkward, but I feel too they are being disrespectful-maybe even unaware of this. I even sleep with ear plugs, but since his throat clearing is more like a 'scream' it wakes me up

Move, life is too short to put up with s*it,just look for somewhere else to live.
When you share living space with other people, no matter if they're close family or strangers, you're going to get unwelcome noises. On a scale of 1 to 10, your problem rates about a 2. Teenagers with drums and rock music, marijuana smoke seeping into your place, strange visitors appearing in the house at all hours when you only have a flimsy door to your room – just a few of the lovely situations you might encounter.
My advice: Go to bed earlier, so you get enough sleep. Use your unwelcome morning hours to read, take care of your wardrobe, pay bills, etc. Run the shower for a couple of minutes to make sure it's clean before you get in. Be glad you don't have to share a bath tub.
For the radio, yes you can ASK that it be turned down a bit. Down, not turned off. As for the spitting, I feel your pain. I don't know how some people get that mess in their throats each day. Nasty! I don't think you can get away from him spitting. If it's all too much for you, try to find another place to live. Don't forget to give the current landlord 30 days' notice!
They guy can't help it if he has mucus in his throat. You should have asked about the hours other house members keep before moving in. All you can do is tell them that their morning routine wakes you up and you were wondering if they could try to be quieter. You alternative is to get up at the same time they do.
Maybe they HAVE to get up at 4:50, to get dressed and get to work on time. Lots of people have to. The radio could be playing because they set a clock radio to come on the next morning and wake them up. Consider those possibilities, before you complain. My sister has to be at work at 6:00 a.m. She has to get up at 4:00 a.m., 5 days a week, in order to get dressed and make the commute in to work by 6:00 a.m.
