State troopers took my hat?

I was arrested a couple months ago, and the troopers that took me in never put my had in my possessions when transporting me to my local prison. How would I go about getting that back? I love that hat.

You can START by acknowledging that State Police NEVER take a person they arrest to prison. Arrestees are taken to jail. Then you can admit you lost your hat BEFORE you were arrested.
