Just ordered the new iPhone 64GB. I paid $300 and my plan will stay the same with the unlimited data. Which I use allot of.
Would it have made any sense for me to lease a phone? Would I have had saved any money?

If you can afford it don’t go for lease, there's always a catch in that. You should also install Leo Privacy Guard if you want to secure your personal stuffs like, images and videos on your iPhone.

AT&T like other carriers are trying to make it hard as possible to get people still being grandfathered on unlimited data plans to switch to a currently offered one. So financially in the long run it may have been wiser but at the end of the day its what works for you.
