I plan to visit Chicago by myself this winter, likely in February or March. I will be driving, and staying in a hotel near the "L". I like museums, unique attractions and eating local food. McDonalds is not local.
As some one visiting Chicago for the first time, what would be the top things you would suggest? What are true Chicago cuisine?

if you do the tourist thing, Ginos and Giordanos are real Chicago. Depending how far from the loop you want to venture each neighborhood has its own unique stuff, you just have to ask around. A favorite of mine I always insist on taking any guests to is Demera Ethiopian, its right by the Lawernece red line stop, its not "chicago food" but its just really fun and the food is amazing
I recently came upon a website that's literally all about having fun in Chicago!! It also posts coupons for various places everyday :) It's really handy if you live in or near Chicago and are bored on a random weekend lol
Actually McDonald's started near Chicago. Thats as local as you can get! but there are also tons of other places. Pizza: Lou Malnattis, Gino's East, Giordanos, pizzeria uno/duo Go to yelp
