Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Alhamdulillah! Namaste!?

Do you agree that Christmas can be a time of uniting all religions in recognizing God, whereas the real threat is secular society's desire to have no such greetings?

Secular society says it is disrespectful to call this time Christmas or wish people Merry Christmas, for those who are not Christian. But is it not better for those of another faith to respond with a greeting from their religion, like Happy Hanukkah, Alhamdulillah, or Namaste? I believe the bigger threat is from those who wish religion to be removed from our culture. Do you agree?

(Please state your religious preference, if any, if you respond.)

Hanukkah is long over. So Merry Christmas to you.

Why should that be the case? Nonbelievers are just as doomed to Christianity as are believers of other religions, if you don't cherry-pick from the bible.

As for "secular society says it is disrespectful to call this time Christmas or wish people Merry Christmas"?
Completely false. Merry Christmas. I'm an atheist.

<<Do you agree that Christmas can be a time of uniting all religions in recognizing God>>

No; these mid-winter celebrations have been going on for ages (regardless of what they were called). Any God inserted into them has been something of an afterthought. These days, for many people, Gods are an irrelevant part of their festivities.

<whereas the real threat is secular society's desire to have no such greetings?>

If secular society is a threat to your religion then your faith can't be very strong. Many people in minority religions get along with their faith just fine not feeling the need to force the entire country into joining in. Your faith & belief & joy in celebrating a holiday should not be based on whether the rest of society is willing to join in with you.

<Secular society says it is disrespectful to call this time Christmas or wish people Merry Christmas, for those who are not Christian.>

No, it's not considered disrespectful. It's just more respectful to acknowledge the diversity in our society.

It's disrespectful to try to silence anyone who prefers to say Happy Holidays.

<But is it not better for those of another faith to respond with a greeting from their religion, like Happy Hanukkah, Alhamdulillah, or Namaste?>

No, that would be absolutely stupid, wishing people a good holiday for holidays they do not at all celebrate.

It's better to just say Happy Holidays, which includes whatever holiday they do celebrate.

<I believe the bigger threat is from those who wish religion to be removed from our culture. Do you agree?>

Again, you are the one with the problem if you feel that your religion can be affected by those who do not celebrate it. If the very fact that other people having different beliefs threatens you, you must look inside yourself because you are lacking in faith. Your relationship with your God(s) should be personal, other people's desire to join in that relationship should be irrelevant.

Your holiday should be meaningful to you for personal reasons; if the existence of people who choose not to participate are such a threat to you, then again, your faith must be missing something.
