You violated one of the site rules, simple as that. Also remember, you agreed to the rules of the site. So if you want "freedom", start your own site. Such a site will not last long without rules.
If you want to know the reason for the violation, post "Why was this question (answer) a violation?" and add the original e-mail you got and any details you remember so the users can see the exact context. The experienced users here will explain it to you. Many times the violation is not in the question, but in the added details and updates.

As to Freedom Of Speech in the USA...
"Freedom of speech" clause of the US Constitution, First Amendment.
The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble or prohibiting the petitioning for a governmental redress of grievances.
Yahoo is not the government, nor are they attempting to make laws that apply to the population as a whole
Just as you can set rules and to who is allowed in your house, and what rules they must obey (such as removing their shoes at the door) so does Yahoo as owner of the site have the right to set rules of conduct, which have absolutely nothing to do with freedom of speech.
