you can only use avatars here, no real photos?

I and many others I see now have a "broken" image.
For me it will remain broken and Y!A can take their "improving" of the site and put it some place dark and smelly.

Not sure what yahoo is doing to mess up so many users avatars, but as usual I am not impressed with their meddling. Their idea of improving is always a fail.

Can't even use avatars. If you have a pic or an avatar, you might want to keep it because you're not able to change it

Updates to Yahoo Profile
What's changing?

Yahoo Profile (profile.yahoo.com) is going away.

But don't worry - your profile picture, nickname, Facebook and Twitter connections, and comments on various Yahoo properties aren’t disappearing! We plan to move relevant settings like your profile pic, nickname, birthday, gender, and connected accounts (Facebook and Twitter) to your account settings.

We're simply removing the ability to view public profiles and the “about me” and “my interests” sections.
Why?

Yahoo Profile was created to let you view public info about others. With Yahoo, you could check out profile pictures, nicknames, and comment histories as well as manage your own publically visible settings. It never quite took off. Very few people look at other people's public profiles, so we're focusing on the things that matter to you by discontinuing unused features.

But this promise has been here for a long time. I guess it depends on how you define "soon"--but to cut and paste...

Yahoo Profile (profile.yahoo.com) is no longer active.
Although you won't be able to look at other users' profiles anymore, you will soon be able to update your profile picture, Yahoo nickname, and other account settings.

at this juncture in time, you can't change or upload a new photo, its not known when yahoo will reenable this feature.
