Why won't apple let you trade in your old macbook to the store?
I want to trade in my old macbook for a new one but they said I have to go online and ship it to them. Why won't they take in store trade ins?

Because the stores are not set up to handle trade-ins. You will get more for it if you sell it and use the money towards the new one.

Maybe because it is not worth anything to them. For them to resell it they would have to recondition it and warranty it for at least 30 days. The cost of reconditioning could easily exceed what they could charge. No company is in business to lose money.
