Windows 10 killed my computer?

I have an oldish HP laptop. It s about three years old, but until three or so months ago its been running at near top noch level (for its components). I updated the machine from Windows 8.1 to 10 and it completely killed it. I mean it destroyed it. Immediately upon booting it up for the first time I could see there was a problem. Where the computer used to boot up in 30 or so seconds, it now takes at least ten minutes. It goes slower in literally every aspect of its performance now, its borderline unuseable. The only thing that I could think changed it was Windows 10. Did this happen to anyone else? Or would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks for the help in advance.

You did not clean it of viruses and malware first and you also had driver updater software you had installed now your computer is slower then heck.

OK but there is some good news now that you have installed windows 10 you can use the Microsoft Windows 10 media creation tool to make a bootable USB installer and do a full fresh install and wipe out and recreate the old partitions!

When you set it up this time choose advanced settings instead of express and go through and turn off all Microsoft's marketing services and helpers!

After your fresh install Windows 10 will automatically activate because Microsoft will recognize your computer!

After installing connect to the internet and let it sit for 15 minutes and restart do that 3 times don't do anything till you do it.

After that you can start setting windows 10 up and it will run fast and smooth.

I do this all the time I'm the PC doctor.

And my directions will work try it and see.

Good luck.

Yep That is Windows 10 for you. Time and time again we have seen it take out hard drive and so much more. It will go down in history as the most destructive thing to hit the PC market. Just to give you an example that you are not alone it wipe out this person hard drive.

To my knowledge she is still trying to figure it out. I can find links like this all over the web. I know here on Yahoo I have seen it several times.

Going back to your original OS is your best bet. Windows 10 is a nightmare of an OS that is going to get worse as time goes by. Between the forced updates to the built in back door you will have no idea what is happening to your puter.

If it has been less then 30 days try this. Back up everything important and then try clicking Start, Settings, Update & security, Recovery, Go back to (last version)

You wont be able to use the recovery partition since you upgraded to 10. M$ deletes it to keep you from going back. It is my opinion that M$ deletes the recovery partition to keep people from going back to their old OS. I guess if you write as many bad OSes as they do you got to find a way to make it look like everyone likes it. If M$ deleted your recovery partition then you will need to order the recovery DVD's from the manufacturer. Some manufactures still have recovery DVD. Post your make and model and I'll see if they are available.

Since you had Windows 8.1 you can use the link below to go back. You need to back everything up and make sure you have a good product key on the bottom of the lappy. The good news is that you have an HP and you should not have nay trouble using their drivers to get back up and running. I do suggest that you download all your drivers before attempting this.

Make sure when you go back that you DO NOT let these updates in. M$ is now hard coding spyware ( back door ) into Windows 7 and 8. Look for these updates and see if you have them. KB 3068708 KB 3022345 KB 3075249 KB 3080149 These updates give 7 and 8 the same spying capability as 10 has.

Go to the HP website and see if there is a BIOS update for W10 and also try the HP forums for slow booting issues
