Audio jacks on desktop not working?

I have a 3 y/o ASUS desktop. It has 3 Jacks for sound: "Front","Rear", and "Sub".

Over time, I thought my speakers were going out, but now the Front and Rear jacks don't work... only the Sub works.

I opened the computer expecting to find a sound card... but instead it seems the jacks are hardwired into the motherboard.

I already checked all Playback settings. Do I need to just buy a separate sound card.

That, or check for any loose connections between the 3.5mm jack and cable running from this jack to your motherboard. It's also a good idea to see if the jumper on the mainboard has come loose.

You could buy a separate sound card...but just beware : other devices like a GPU can cause interference that you WILL hear when you are using your GPU (gaming, simulations, etc.), and from my experience EVERY GPU buzzes to some degree! The price of the soundcard does not make it better....

Try to update your realtek sound drivers from your PC manufactures website, you have onboard sound.
