Books really bore me and it's very rare that I find a book that I actually want to keep reading. The last books genuinely enjoyed was The Revenant, which you already know was also made into a movie. The Revenant never had a boring moment, there was always something exciting going on.

I loved The Revenant! Haven't seen the movie though. I recommend In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick. Also a movie (that I haven't seen) and based on a true story. You might also try some of Erik Larson's non-fiction. The Devil in the White City was awesome. For something that wasn't really exciting but was fascinating, try Stiff by Mary Roach, about what happens to the human body after death, or Dead Reckoning: The New Science of Catching Killers by Michael Baden.
House of the Seven Gables, by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hard to put down the book. Also, any short stories by Washington Irving, he was a classic short story writer who is very enjoyable over and over again.
