Apparently not, since the incidence of such accusations involving Catholic priests is exactly the same as the incidence in the adult male population at large - about 0.6%. The only thing greater in cases involving priests is the inordinate amount of media hype. The rate for priests is also slightly lower than the incidence involving Protestant clergy - 0.71% (most of whom are married). Again, this is "accusations", not convictions. Innocent until proven guilty, right? Also, you should note that most such cases usually involve adolescent boys, which means that the priests/ministers involved are not pedophiles, but homosexuals. The press likes to use the term "pedophile" because everyone disdains pedophilia, while many people consider homosexual acts as no big deal.

Who knows...another crime was the sale of "indulgences" which the faithful believed would cut down the amount of time they would spend in purgatory....the priests travelled round the country...nice little earner...the more, you paid the more time off!
