Graphics cards, is this a good buy?

I currently have a Radeon HD 7800, and am looking for a new card. I ve found a new card, a GTX 950, for $175 at best buy.
Wanted to ask if this was a decent price for the improvement. Yes, I know I could get it cheaper online, but asking about this one this itself.

The GTX 950 would be a sidegrade to the 7870 and not that much faster than a 7850. It wouldn't be worth it for you to buy a GTX 950 because your graphics performance would remain roughly at the same performance level.

NO, it's not a good buy. I can go to amazon and get a better card for the same price. Best buy is absolutely the worst place to buy a graphics card. Check with newegg.com, amazon.com, Fry's Electronics, or Microcenter.

A GTX 960 would net you better results and it would be an okay upgrade. However if I was you I'd hold out for something in the GTX 970/GTX 1060 ballpark.

Right now is a really bad time to buy a graphics card because both Nvidia and AMD plan to release a new generation of cards starting in a few weeks. I'd wait for 2 months. At that point you could either buy a new R9 400 series or a GTX 1000 series card or buy a used GTX 970 on craigslist for less than $200.

Here are some reviews with barcharts comparing other cards so you can get an idea of their performance levels.

I'd save up some more...
And you can get much better cards for the price online.

Like Andy said, I've seen the 950 GTX on sale with rebate for $130 online. Amazon, Newegg, Tiger Direct, are great computer hardware dealers.

Here's a list of video card performance, that way you can tell how much faster one card is over another.

It is a good card, however if you're going to invest in a new card you might as well as go all the way and get a GTX 960 (like I have) for about $30 more...

It would be a very minor upgrade. Especially if that is a Radeon HD 7870. You could likely make up the speed difference through a minor overclock of your current card.

The Radeon R7 370 is a rebranded R7 265 which is a rebranded 7850.
The Radeon R9 270 is a rebranded 7870.
The Radeon R9 270x is a rebranded 7870 XT.

Graphics Cards are only for your games, You should buy other equipments like Ram, HardDisk, or a new processor for speeding your system.
