Why are my brakes pressed when I make sharp turns on my BMX?

It really bugs me a lot. Sometimes I just want to do some drifting when I encounter wet grounds. But I can't because of the brakes! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I think I know... we see this ALL the time.

This is kinda hard to explain but it is as simple as anything to do.

Make sure that your brake cable isn't twisted around the stem and head tube. Here's how:

1. Sit on the bike like you are going to ride it;
2. Try to turn the handlebars all the way around while watching the brake cable;

If you can't turn the handlebars ALL THE WAY AROUND at least once then the cable is probably wound around the stem. STOP, and turn the handlebars the OPPOSITE way until the cable is no longer twisted.

When you see the cable going in a direct line from the lever it is OK. It should NOT be twisted around anything.

Here's a pic of how it SHOULD look. See? No twists.
