I know this is a silly question, forgive me, but i just want to ask.

I replaced the fuel filter for the first time on my 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins truck.

After 100 miles or so, the truck still drives smoothly but i am not sure though if i had tightened the front fuel filter. I know that i have tightened the cap, no problem there. [I was so tired when i removed the cap coz it was super tight, took me almost 2 hrs, so when everything was finished i forgot if i tightened it or not the fuel filter itself, or correctly if at all....]

Do i need to open the cap again and recheck if i had tightened the fuel filter?

Thanks.

I would. Then again I would check to see why the cap was so tight or is that just the nature of the beast. But being that the fuel filter is an important part of the entire system and common sense says that if you don't want something to leak, you make sure that its reasonably tight according to specs. After all if there is fuel leaking because of the fuel filter not being properly tightened, it wouldn't take long for other problems to start happening including loss of fuel pressure from the loose fuel filter.

Yes, absolutely yes, do check.
