What's the difference between a sympathizer and a supporter?
I notice people seem to use the two different terms interchangeably in certain conditions.

You can sympathize passively - a supporter is (usually) more active.
Sympathizing means understanding what another is experiencing or is about, but being a supporter usually suggests some kind of help. You might be sympathetic to a presidential candidate, but sending cash to his campaign would make you a supporter
