Nikon camera fails to download to Windows 10 computer.?

My Windows 8 all-in-one desktop crashed. I replaced it with a Windows 10 all-in-one desktop. My previous computer had a prompt to name photographs being downloaded from my Nikon D610 and sent the photographs to a file folder with all of my other photograph files. Windows 10 does not offer me a label choice, uses disk numbers from the camera, and requires me to transfer photographs from another computer in order to mirror file folders. How can I solve the problems?

You will have installed some picture management software that came with the Camera when you first got it. Or possibly even from an earlier camera. This was doing the management for your. Now you just have the default Windows camera wizard.

Try reinstalling the Nikon Software first.

Try using the SD card by itself and then just let Windows 10 get the pictures that way. Most computers accept SD cards. If it doesn't they may sell an SD card reader and it should accept it. What kind of media does the camera use to store the pictures in?

They sell SD card adapters that plug into PC's and Macs and don't require drivers.

Try again.
